Statement on the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact hosted by France, 22-23 June 2023

The Southern Africa Resources Watch (SARW) sees the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact taking place in France this week as an opportunity for world leaders to refuel efforts to address developing countries’ debt distress and shortfalls in climate finance. Our concern is that developing countries, overburdened by the debt crisis, have lost the fiscal space necessary to finance their development priorities, including funding climate change action
