Gender and Mining in SADC
The Southern Africa Resource Watch (SARW) is implementing a research project to contribute towards intervention in poverty alleviation and fighting inequality. Under this intervention, SARW is carrying out a Study on Women’s Employment and Participation in the Local Supplier’s Mining Value Chains in 5 Southern African Countries: DRC, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The project aims to ensure gender inclusivity and equity in the mining industry in Southern Africa. The specific objectives of the project are:
- To provide real-time data on women’s employment levels in SADC’s large-scale mining industry.
- To promote women’s social and economic well-being through participation in the region’s mining. industry.
