DRC, Japan’s Solafune Partner to Advance Satellite Mining Data

The National Geological Service of Congo (SGNC) and Japanese technology firm Solafune have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on using satellite data and AI to advance the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Signed on July 18, the MoU establishes a framework for cooperation to improve mineral resource management through AI-powered analysis of geospatial data, enhancing the understanding of the DRC’s subsurface resources. Solafune will assist SGNC in leveraging AI tools for this purpose.
